I knew for months ahead of time that this was going to be an extremely beautiful family photo session.  This family is one of those radiant lights that walk this earth.  The beauty on the outside makes one swoon, but then you get to know them and it doesn’t even compare to their love and kindness and the beauty of their hearts.  This was my third photo session with them, so I knew the soft, dreamy feeling they were hoping for.  We did a maternity session last fall, and a newborn session for their little girl in the winter.  You can see some of their maternity photos from this blog post.   This was baby Athena’s six month sitting up session.  I mention it every time, but the baby plan where I get to capture the milestones through your baby’s first year is my FAVORITE.  Instead of having a smattering of iPhone pics to look back on, you get all these professional portraits with beautiful light that really capture the details and all the beauty of a year that goes shockingly fast.

We started this photo session in my garden with Athena and her big brother.  Their smiles in my garden are the cutest.  Next we took a family photo and some of Athena by herself in the garden with beautiful backlight lighting her up.  Next we traveled to my favorite lake location for some really dreamy photos.  This mom brought flower crowns and wore the most beautiful flower gown.  With her baby cuddling her, we captured these moments in the lake that I love so much.  The light is shining behind them.  The sun is casting a warm glow.  The reflection of the sky is shimmering in the water.  The moment was just perfect.  We ended the session with some portraits of their little boy and some with dad and his kids.  I have one more photo session with this family this year and find myself thinking about it and planning ahead even when I’m not working.
