Smitten & Swoon

baby boy {boulder newborn photographer}

After quite a long spell of little girls in my studio, this was the first baby boy in a few weeks to come for newborn photography.  I can’t get over his big cheeks, his gorgeous hair and his sweet face!  At every newborn photo session, I love to start or end the time with family photos.  If you’re like me, you don’t love to have your photo taken.  I rarely like photos of myself, and I’m pretty happy being behind the camera 100% of the time.  But what I try to make myself think about is how sacred these photos will become with time.  I have no idea what tomorrow will bring, and I don’t want my children to ever look back and not have physical proof of my deep love for them.  There is nothing you can’t get back quite like those first days once a baby is born.  There is nothing quite like the tender emotions of those first days, and the fragile beauty.  Can you imagine if you had a beautiful photo of your mother holding you in your first weeks of life?  If I had that photo, it would be on my bedside table.  I encourage all my clients to get in the frame with their babies.  The photos are all about emotion and love.  With newborns I like images that are cropped close.  I like images that feel intimate, highlighting the new love and giant emotions every parent feels as they get to know their brand new babies.

At this session, we began with family photos, and then moved on to some poses with just baby.  In the spring and summer I love to go outside and take a photo in the garden.  My garden has beautiful morning light and is so perfect for newborn babies.  I love the photo of this baby boy sleeping in the garden.  We had him wear blue, swaddled him up, and even captured a smile.  Enjoy this peek at the sweetest baby boy’s newborn photo session.
