Provence Horse & Light Photography Retreat

In the heart of nature, among horses, stables, and the infinite blue of the Mediterranean Sea just a few hundred meters away, travel with me to Camargue, Provence in the south of France. Each day is thoughtfully curated for moments of maximum photographic magic.

We will stay at Les Bains Gardians, immersed in the marshlands and surrounded by horses. Daily shoots center on the majestic white horses of Camargue—galloping through the sea at sunset, running through the marshes at sunrise, and moving alongside their guardians at a traditional manade.

We will ride horses, photograph them, and retreat each evening to our own private luxury cottages set among the stables. Meals are fully included—from slow, elegant breakfasts to lunches with French cowboys and candlelit dinners outdoors with live music and flower-filled tables.

I’ll share my approach to off-camera flash, lead a fine art portrait workshop, and host an editing session. Jamie Beck will guide a beautiful floral flatlay workshop as well.

With a focus on light, artistry, and personal growth, this is a deeply immersive, all-inclusive photography retreat. With a guide taking care of every behind the scenes detail, you will have full access to shoot with me, ask all your questions and create once in a lifetime memories with me as well as a small group of creatives.

Spots are limited. We’ll connect ahead of time through video calls, a private Facebook group, and WhatsApp so that by the time we arrive, it already feels like we’ve traveled together before.

Where: Camargue, France

We will stay at Les Bains Gardians, a traditional Camargue hacienda with whitewashed walls, sagne roofs, and a refined rustic aesthetic. Each private cottage features its own terrace with views of ponds, horses, and wild birds. The 4-hectare estate is woven between water, nature, and open land, with two pools and a full-service spa for rest and reflection.

Who: All levels welcome. Comfort shooting in manual mode is the only requirement.

A friend was asking me about the retreat, and I explained to her how profound and life changing the experience was for me. Once I got home and had some time to process everything, I was thinking about how I couldn’t sleep while I was there. At the risk of sounding overly dramatic, I realized that the last time I felt that way was the two days the my kids were born. Once they were placed in my arms the experience was so big and life altering that my body responded by wanting to just stay awake and savor every moment. While I was there I just wanted to take it all in - it was amazing and beautiful and perfect - and I’m forever grateful to you for putting such an amazing retreat together!

You will walk away from this workshop with a full heart, hands-on guidance from D’Ann, great conversations and feeling creatively refreshed. From the moment you arrive you are enveloped in D’Ann’s warmth and love of photography—you can’t help but soak in her love of all-things light, peacefulness and lifting up everyone around her. Even as a first-time small group photography workshop attendee, who was nervous to attend, I couldn’t help but feel comfortable and excited to be there! My nerves quickly disappeared. Attending this workshop gave me the confidence to ask questions and get immediate feedback that allowed me to learn quickly and see the difference a small angle, or camera setting can make in an image. I was also able to be guided out of my comfort zone through D’Ann’s amazing planned sessions in different locations and lighting scenarios. Of course, I was excited to get that soft glow of golden hour, but my favorite photos came out of a hard-light session, which has completely opened new creative opportunities for me. In addition to learning from D’Ann, fellow participants were so gracious with sharing their experiences and helping one another with shots or tips; I walked away from this experience with an amazing new photography BFF!
